Narnia Voyage of the Dawn Treader – Filming

The Dawn Treader
Last Friday I went to Movie World on the Gold Coast to meet with Mr Douglas Gresham, the stepson of C.S. Lewis who was the author of The Chronicles of Narnia. There are seven books in the series and Douglas who is also the Co-Producer, is responsible for bringing them to life on the big screen. “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” is the third book in the series and is the movie that is in production now. The photo above is of the Dawn Treader, taken from Moreton Bay, while it was on Cleveland point for about one month during filming. The Dawn Treader took three months to setup for the filming and then was taken down in under two weeks and transported to Movie World, where it has been setup again inside the large studio.
The photo below is of me and Mr Narnia himself, Douglas Gresham, who very kindly allowed me and my family to see the filming of Narnia, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. We met a lot of the actors including Ben Barnes (King Caspian), Georgie Henley( Lucy Pevensie) and many of the cast and crew.
Gary Sweet (Lord Drinian, the captain of the Dawn Treader) and Skandar Keynes (Edmund Pevensie) were busy acting out a scene where the Dawn Treader is being attacked by a sea monster. The Dawn Treader was being moved around by it’s hydrolic base and all the actors were falling across the deck.
It was an amazing experience to be there and watch the actors, directors, producer and all the cast and crew working on this great film. We were taken behind the scenes and saw some “top secret” film sets, hopefully we will be able to talk about these at a later date.
Thank you Douglas for this wonderful opportunity.
